Guilty as charged on using the apostrophe with numbers so I have always put 747's (but never Jumbo's) when referring to the plural. I still think that's acceptable use and glad to see I'm in good company on that.

I do dislike the common over and wholly incorrect use of the apostrophe in a lot of signage. "Fish and Chip's" is a particular bugbear of mine.
