Newbie gold question: Waitlist benefit

I have an upcoming 2-4-1 redemption. I've already posted about the CPT-LHR being rescheduled. It would now be ideal for us to take a different flight onward to the US. I called the Executive Club. After some research, the agent told me that it is a gold benefit to be waitlisted for a different flight. She has now added us to the waitlist (though I don't see it when I look at my booking). She said there had to be revenue booking still available for the flight in order to waitlist us, and there was.

Does anyone have any idea how long it takes for revenue management to look at this? There's certainly no urgency, but should I expect that they will do so within a couple weeks, or actually wait til a couple weeks before flight time? If they do clear it, will I receive an email with an updated schedule? The agent was inexperienced in the matter, and told me I should check in with them from time to time.
