I would also feel a bit annoyed at having to pay EZY that sort of cash......
Apart from a few military bases which accept civil flights, ATC at most Greek airports is provided by the Hellenic CAA as are all en-route ATC services.

I'd go along with the suggestion of flying BA to ATH to get your Avios/TPs and then a short connecting flight. Much easier at the new airport than it was at Hellenikon. A3 and the "new" OA seem reasonable enough for a 40-minute hop to CHQ or HER.
