AAdv PLT+30K miles, EXP challenge or UA Premier PLT?
Hello,
As of today I've got 55K miles (49 K points) on AA, so I re-qualified for PLT, I might get to EXP by the end of the year, but is not certain. I see 30K miles in my future (mostly for work). I have no time for 'mileage runs'.
I am Premier silver on UA and I can easily get to gold (possibly platinum) by the end of the year, so my flying will give me something tangible in UA, won't do much for me on AA (I have 24 unused stickers with AA, don't need more) - I believe that AA should offer a EXP challenge (exception?) to PLTs that qualified by mid year. Personally, I feel I'll have a reason to push my flying to AA if I can enjoy the EXP benefits right away. I have some say on which airline I chose to fly for work + personal travel.
In light of the recent EXP giveaways to UA 1Ks, I don't think that asking for an exemption is so unreasonable. It is not my style to make calls threatening to leave, so I am looking for your advise. Have you been in a same situation, found a way to 'ask nicely' and have been granted a 'challenge'? Can you share your experience?
Is staying with AA and go for EXP a risky strategy? Merger + AAdvantage EXP dilution makes it less attractive. What would you do in my situation?
Thanks!
