Did what they said and sure enough within about 2 hours I got a reply back saying to apply for the card and I will get a $95 statement credit immediately (via current promo) and when the $395 fee posts, they will issue an additional $300 credit.

I recently got the MP Explorer Card - thinking of messaging Chase and seeing if I can upgrade to this card with the annual fee waived first year like described in your link.
