However, if nobody comes, I'd like to keep the FC seat for purposes of the meal and snacks (helpful when traveling with toddlers) but will sit the whole flight in coach. Anyone ever done this? Etiquette thoughts? I may not even be able to "take off" from the FC seat because I will be needed in coach for child control.
Etiquette thoughts? Poor etiquette. The FA will probably say "once you start the flight in coach, you're simply another coach passenger." No shuttling back and forth for chow or drinks.
When this has happened to me, I've let my wife sit in F and I've sat in coach with the kid. We had one or two of those when our first child was an infant/toddler. One time the FA thought that was such a nice gesture that she went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed in the bulkhead row. No F meals or drinks, but we never ran out of water and the little bags of goldfish...
I have a three-person itin coming up this summer on US with two kids. If we clear 2 via the normal upgrade process, I'll spend miles on the third. If we only clear 1, some lucky chap is getting an onboard upgrade...
