VA also uses POS restrictions, but it's very clear when using the Velocity Rewards site, as there will be days visible for awards if searching SYD-LAX-SYD that don't show up if you do LAX-SYD-LAX searches.
In trying to use an SWU, I had multiple agents lie to me and tell me that O inventory was not available that I could see on DL.dumb (in addition to EF and FB) and that a colleague saw moments before or moments after. Long sells are not a solution to AF/KL award inventory issues. Seems that it's HUACA or book on DL.dumb.
Interesting. But if there are POS restrictions, do these affect inventory on delta.com as well as when booking with DL reservation agents?
So far, I'm getting better inventory with the agents -- like I have my outbound booked on AF/KL flights that were not seemingly available on delta.com. I haven't yet had any success using multi-city on delta.com to pull up the inventory I'm seeing on FB.
Someone else said asking for a "long sale" doesn't help with AF/KL inventory, but I had one agent say there were no seats, but she'd try a long sale. And then she found some seats.
It's all rather bizarre, and feels like a crapshoot. I'm a little flexible in my days, so I'm hoping I can piece together something, even if I can't get exactly what I want (and what would seem available on FB).
