First Class Fare and IRROPS = middle seat in coach
Yesterday I flew NRT-LAX-SFO on a paid biz class fare on NH, with the connecting flight on UA. Why that routing? For some reason, the fare was about $1000 cheaper, so that is what I flew.
As usual, NH biz was stellar (UA take note), but on arrival at LAX, found that UA444 was cancelled due to weather problems. OK, stuff happens. So at the United Club I ask to be rebooked. BTW, I used my UA number for credit.
At the UC, I was told that, since I booked thru a "Travel Agency", that this was not their problem. No, I told them, I booked it thru NH, and I was holding an F fare ticket on UA. Lots of sighing and eye-rolling from the "customer service" rep. Then she told me I could fly, but only in E-, in a middle seat.
I protested. I said I had an F fare ticket, and my F fare should trump any CPU or TOD upgrade. Nope, nothing she can do. Asked to speak with a supervisor. One finally shows up after 30 minutes. When I explain what I want, she says, without bothering to look, that all of the F cabin was full of F fare passengers. Uh huh, sure.
I then asked that UA refund the fare difference. They refuse. So now I am left to dispute on my credit card.
So in summary, thanks a bunch Jeff. More changes I like. A full F customer sits in the back while you keep your TOD's. Great policy.
