Anyone know of a way to make Orbitz show specific connecting airports? Looks like they save me $300 on my normal monthly FC round trip but would like to maximize MQM's too.
Orbitz engine just works better for multi-city trip searches. If you wanted to book through Delta.com you could use schedule searches to come up with the exact same fare. As others have pointed out, it seems to be related to multi-city pairs.

It is extremely rare where the exact same schedule and flights would be cheaper. But it does happen.

But if people did find the same search easier on Orbitz, it isn't like there are any additional fees involved in most cases and you can get 3 to 1 rewards for booking with their Credit Card.

There are fees with change fees and paper ticket fees but that is pretty much it and many people won't face them from what I see.

Orbitz has been a very good price engine for a long time now.

Lots of ways to buy tickets and lots of strategies and lots of airplanes taking off daily.

The whole jist here is that Delta.com's booking engine is designed poorly to find the best offered Delta's fare prices. They are still inside the database but the query engine works poorly.

Orbitz on the other hand finds those fares doing the work for you. If they are doing a better job with their engine in Travelport, I would rather give Orbitz the business for creating the better fare engine so each and every time you'll get the better fare.

The review does mention some complaints on Orbitz however so one does need to be careful. But the A+ BBB rating seems to indicate they are rectifying their issues.

You can read the review here:

One reason Orbitz.com got a top ten ranking and the TopTenREVIEWS Bronze Award is because it has something most other online travel sites don’t: a search option. Instead of navigating around the site, type in a keyword, click, and you’ll get to the page with the information you’re looking for.

But in line with that, TopTenREVIEWS is obligated to lower our original higher ranking of Orbitz. Search “Orbitz complaints” to see why. There have been a plethora of horrifying customer complaints, ranging from double charges and unauthorized credit card charges, to Orbitz not making the correct hotel or flight arrangements, leaving customers stranded in faraway places while refusing to do anything to help the customer. By far the most frequent complaint is the lack of customer service. There are many reports of customers on the phone for an hour or more (using cell phone minutes, yet!), waiting to talk to a manager, only to get a rude Orbitz representative who blamed the poor customer for the mistake and quickly hung up.

The only reason we didn’t let Orbitz’s recent history drop the site from our latest reviews is because we are giving them the benefit of the doubt. The company has offered good service for years. Maybe their problems come from outsourcing their agent and customer service positions to a foreign business whose workers don’t understand English or are just plain incompetent. Maybe none of the Orbitz honchos have taken time to supervise how those jobs are now being done. Let the site have time to clean up its act. That said, use Orbitz with caution, get confirmation numbers for everything, and use a credit card rather than a debit card so your card company will fight for you if Orbitz does you wrong.
