I'd certainly worry about the seat assignment 'sticking', given the way the website is worded. It sounds like there were serious IT issues with this (advance SeatPlus selection) from the start, and they may not be sorted out yet. I wonder if there are 'sweeps' that could re-assign any non-FB elites to non-SP seats if there's no record of payment.
I'm inclined to think the benefit is
supposed to be free for ST elites (I believe DL EC is free for ST elites) but that the IT still is a problem. Not surprising, since DL still can't talk nice with KL about free EC for elites or make an advance seat assignment stick.
Note: I did see a footnote somewhere that this benefit is also free to folks with an FB credit card, which makes me even more inclined to believe it is supposed to be a ST benefit.
