I've experienced a couple of instances where DL cancelled or refused to issue tickets for conflicting/overlapping round-trips on DL itself.

I highly doubt they have the capability to do so for a conflicting flight on another airline -- especially if it is not a SkyTeam airline or other Delta partner where you would use your SkyPesos number to book.
