Slick advertising campaigns aren't enough.
I had forgotten about these ads, but yes, some of them are very good.
But honestly, for the experienced frequent flyers in this program, does it really matter? How much does this company's image matter to us? If they brought this advertising program back today, would you care?
What matters to me is the reality of the company - and sorry, the reality is deteriorating, badly.
It may help revenue in the short term, to project a solid image. But in the long term, the reality of your product is what matters. And United's product is clearly suffering.
No advertising program can make up for a weak product. Eventually, your customers will discover the truth, and then you will be in serious trouble.
