It's good that you were able to use the certificates and enjoyed a well-deserved pampering! I myself have wasted a couple of them and I am sure many others were in the same situation.

Speaking from experience on *A (OZ, TG, US) I quite often observed the International FC cabin being sparsely populated and that led me to believe the airlines would be very reluctant to give out FC seats as the norm.
