Hello everyone, I am a flight-attendant based in YVR. I make a point of reading forums such as this one, so that I know where we stand, what we do well and what we can improve. Some of the post make me smile, some others break my heart because I know that some of my colleagues are plain rude and couldn't careless for you, our costumers.
For the first time I chose to register and reply because what I have just read has made me jump.
Ken hAAmer, where did you get that agents are able to "mark" with a special code your boarding pass, so that we flight-attendants can spit in your meal? First of all there are no such secret language shared by agents and flight-attendants. Second, we usually serve meals from a cart in the aisle, so how and why would anybody who would feel the urge of doing such an unspeakable thing as to spit in somebodyelse's meal do that in plain view of everybody in the middle of the cabin? I am furious to read such comments. I agree, AC is not the perfect airline, but this is pushing the criticism a bit far I believe. As cabin crew, we at times get upset (towards the end of my life I should maybe write a book on human nature) but we keep it to ourselves and share our concerns/stories with colleagues in the galley. Galley talks no more no less.
Now I am going to say something that maybe will disturb some of you. I think that we, the AC staff, are a good representation of the people who live in Canada. Some of us are extremely nice, will do anything to please and exceed our costumers' expectations, some of us are good workers, polite but not overly dedicated, some of us, yes and it breaks my heart, are plain rude and should defenitely change industry or for the least go through "charm" school. The same as my neighbors. I have walked in the elevator and said good morning to everyone who were already inside and did not get a single good morning back, I have had neighbors who have held the entrance door open for me when my hands were full, I have neighbors who say "hi" and that's it.
To conclude I would like to say that I find unacceptable that certains of my colleagues allow themselves to treat anybody in any other way that they like to be treated.
Safe flying everyone.
