The United CoC covers "Back-to-Back ticketing", and clearly states it's prohibited. It also clearly states that back-to-back ticketing is when you use multiple round-trip fares
"for the purpose of circumventing applicable tariff rules" which is NOT what you're doing here, so this is not back-to-back ticketing!

J) Prohibited Practices:
3) The use of Flight Coupons from two or more different Tickets issued at round trip fares for the purpose of circumventing applicable tariff rules (such as advance purchase/minimum stay requirements) commonly referred to as “Back-to-Back Ticketing” is prohibited by UA.
