I think wifi will be a standard service within 10 year on most airlines. Like it or not, the same goes for mobile phones.

I was recently on Virgin America SFO-JFK, and yes it worked. No special treat for First though, you had to bring up the credit card and pay. Actually, I was more impressed with the satellite TV, I could watch live-TV Live News is more enjoyable than reading some mail that can wait 5h or so.

But none the less, internet will "soon" be on most major airlines.
