Interesting Aircraft re-route/swap

CX827 from YYZ to HKG on 30th May was cancelled. Instead the 777-300ER in 77G configuration took off with no passengers and flew direct to SFO where it acted as a aircraft replacement for CX873 where the original aircraft must have had a technical fault.

Ive never seen something like this before, especially as CX873 is normally a 747. They inconvenienced YYZ pax to help SFO pax. I wonder if CX827 was full??

Even though SFO pax got another aircraft, for F passengers they will have had to go into J, and a 77G doesnt have enough seats for all J pax. Interesting scenario!
