The last time i arrived at 11PM, about two weeks ago, there was not a soul in the arrival immigration hall. I was on the street less than 15 minutes after landing.

While reading your post it appeared that neither choice had a leg up on the other until your mention that the group meets at 6PM. You now have time to explore a bit of the city and should definitely head into town, via taxi, when you exit the airport.
