At Gatwick Airport, I watched with a sense of schadenfreude as three different people with IRIS tried the machine, only for two of them to give up completely after 10 minutes and the other taking a good few minutes to get it to recognize them.
It helped me to relieve some of my about to boil fuse, standing in the overseas passport queue as there were only 2 lanes open for non-EU passports.
On the EU side, no queues and the 8-10 agents sitting around doing nothing.... if the government is looking to cut inefficiency, I suggest they get down to the Gatwick Airport immigration counter and implement some a no-brainer efficiency tweak.
