Although I enjoy this hotel, I'm going to change my stays to the GH downtown where I am upgraded every time as a diamond.
As a semi-frequent guest of the HR Bellevue, I find that they are just not overly generous with complimentary suite upgrades for Diamond members, and don't believe that this is a recent change. I sometimes ask at checkin and have once or twice been granted an executive suite, which I always consider going above and beyond. Remember that the GP Terms and Conditions only provide for an upgrade to the best available non-suite room. [Unfortunately, at this property, all non-suite rooms are configured identically so there isn't much of an upgrade other than perhaps your floor preference.]

The GH in Seattle is known for being generous to Diamonds with suites. This is not a published benefit and should be considered more than is required (ie, not expected). That said, I am all in favor of patronizing properties that have a reputation for exceptional Diamond treatment.
