1. Is my time worth it? If I spend every waking hour of my life chasing miles, does that "free" first class ticket to Tahiti really make up for all the lost time?
2. Do I care? I know it may sound outlandish but some people - even sophisticated bidness-men just want to get on a plane, get to their destination and get back home with the least amount of hassle.
I see FT type elitist snob behavior with my wife and photography. I don't know how many times I've heard her bemoan that parents take pictures of their kids with "just a cell phone". She acts like like it's a crime against humanity that everyone doesn't have a $2500 camera like she does with 150 settings that no human on earth fully understands. For some people a picture on a cell phone of little Johnny's school play is perfectly fine. Just like for some people sitting in 38D is perfectly fine as well.
