example: AMS-YUL goes mechanical. Knowing they will propose that I go in the morning, I am ready with the suggestion that they put me on the first JFK flight. Since I was connecting in JFK the following day on another flight. Had to work my way from "here, just print out your BP for to,orrow here, no need to go to the services desk", to the "but this ticket finishes in YUL" to "I see. There's room on the first JFK flight. Here is your BP".
or: missed connection MUC. "Send me to BRU (I was going LUX originally) and I will rent a car on my own dime rather than leave my pregnant wife at home on her own." From MUC is a significantly further drive.
my fav though: C/plat and no bags on EDI-AMS-LUX, "sorry sir, check-in closed 2 minutes ago" (it is now 0557 am). We have re-booked you on the next flight (which will leave here in 4 hours and leave you another 5 hours in AMS). Me, "how about you send me to PRG in 1hr, I would have a 90 min layover and be home by 1400 instead of 2200". "Oh, yes, that would be much better" (you think?!).
The above is all KL, I suppose?
To be fair to the agents trying to help you (LH or KL), they just enter a command to show them the next option and read what is shown to them by the system. I had a similar situation last year with US in DTW where the agent insisted there was no flight to FRA on LH that day, turning her screen to show me what she saw. Since I didn't know any SHARES commands I couldn't help, so I had to walk over to the LH counter, ask them if they departed at 6pm and if they had space in C, following which the lady found the flight by searching for DTW->FRA and then add the MUC segment in a sec

nd step.
