I actually wanted to cancel both flights but have been holding back as I will have to pay $ to have the miles deposited back into my account.

I remember with CO, if there was a change to an itenerary, they would pretty much give you free range to book on another flight or cancel all together without penalty/fees. Would this still be true with UA?

The changes to the inteneraries are actually quite insignificate... One flight departs 15 minutes later than originally scheduled and the other departs 45 mins later thank originally scheduled.

I appreciate the feedback.
My reservation was changed to shorten my trip by a day, and at first she said there would be a $150 charge to cancel the trip and redeposit the miles. I argued this wasn't fair since it was a weekend trip and their change in date cut in half my time at the destination. She relented and redeposited the miles without a fee. I got no notice of the change, just found out about it by reviewing my future reservations online. I checked and found that the partner airline I had been booked on no longer was listing any flight operation at all for the city pair on the date originally scheduled, so it wasn't really United's fault that the change in itinerary was made.
