Adding barcode sticker to self-tagged checked bag?
After a slightly odd experience at MEL check-in this morning, i just wondered whether this was Qantas policy or just someone being a bit over officious...
QF managed to lose my checked bag for 24 hours last week on a direct flight between ADL and MEL, so I decided to help my bag get to SYD this morning when I checked in at MEL by removing one of the small barcode stickers from the end of the self printed label and sticking it directly onto my bag (as I have seen many airline agents do in the past - I had assumed it would help if the main label got torn off). Straight away, the Qantas person at the self service check-in kiosks dashed over and told me that I wasn't allowed to do that, and needed to remove the label before he would let me place it on the belt. Once i had taken the sticker off again, he was happy. This seems a bit weird to me - was I in the wrong here?
