Would one complain if one started boarding on-time and because full 321 takes a while be 5 minutes late? Oh and since it takes a while there would be no pre-departure drinks.
UA actually does the same thing. I showed up at the boarding time for my flight, and by the time I showed up they were at Zone 5. I was Zone 3 as *S and as I walked up to the Premier Access line, the GA said "sorry, but you have to go to the back. this is only used at the start." I'm pretty sure this is wrong for UA (I can't believe they would they make a Premier Exec go to the back of the line)...
I later flew 2 more UA flights in last 2 weeks and every time boarding has started before the time on boarding card... so it's not just US... and for the record, we left early and got there on-time for all flights
