This is a good question, it was stated that the EWR- LAX/SFo flights were to get upgraded to a PS style of meal, however, UA's website does not say this. BUT, thier website does say this;

Special meals in North America are available in premium cabins on flights between:

Newark (EWR) and San Francisco (SFO) or Los Angeles (LAX)
New York (JFK) and San Francisco (SFO) or Los Angeles (LAX)
The continental U.S. and Hawaii .

Not too sure a 2 class FC would be really a premium cabin...
