OK looks like this lens stays in the lens bag until I manage to sell it to an unsuspecting victim or save up the pennies for the 70-200 F2.8L

Bah! I don't know why there are so many rave reviews about the 70-300 IS USM. It is by a far stretch the most disappointing lens I have bought
