The 8th floor bar balcony is a wonderful place to have dinner on a delightful spring/summer evening. White asparagus is in season and is delicious.
On chatting with a young lady at the front desk about our Chernobyl tour, she said she couldn't go there. It would hurt too much. I get that. I have no plans to ever go to Ground Zero.
The GM at Kiev Hyatt came from Warsaw Hyatt a month ago, where he was the rooms manager.
Returning to the airport
The hotel has two different levels of cars. For one, they charge $200 one way to the airport. For the other, they charge $150. At those prices, I have absolutely no idea what the make model was.
A taxi called from the street would be 350 Ukrainian Grivnas or $43.
A taxi with which the hotel has a negotiated rate would be 275 Ukranian Grivnas or $34.
Know your terminal before leaving the hotel. I neither speak nor read Russian. The driver was the same way about English. And neither of us knew from which terminal LOT departed. He attempted to take me to the Ukranian Airline terminal, which I was confident was incorrect. Fortunately, I subscribe to TripIt pro. It sent a text to my phone stating my flight left from Terminal B.
