Though I'm not sure if this is what you're asking, you are entitled to stay credit if you do stay at the hotel, even if you don't check in first. So if your dad checks in on Monday, and then you arrive (and check in) on Tuesday, and both of you check out on Wednesday, you should probably get credit.
Don't you have to pay with your credit card to get credit for the stay?
