New Colombian LCC Viva Colombia has launched today and is billed as Colombia's first LCC
They are based in MDE Rio Negro so it is at least an interesting shift offering a new hub in Colombia, previously one had to connect via Bogotá to go anywhere, now you can fly to destinations direct from MDE.
Viva Colombia flies MDE CTG which is the only main destination that AV flies without having to come back through BOG.
Actually just looking at their booking engine and they have opened up some great new point to point routes that don't touch MDE either. I am seeing PEI CTG, CTG CLO,
Tickets are from US$30 one way but the service is completely unbundled (Irlandia the investment group of Ryanair founder Declan Ryan is backing the venture) Includes 22lb/10kg of free hand luggage. Taking a suitcase up to 20kg costs an additional $15 (i.e. doubles the price of the flight)
Just ran a dummy booking, yes returns are available for COP$110,000 which is about US$60
