OT: e-channel at HKIA, downgraded after "upgrade"

Did HKIA used the same IT staff that upgraded the CX systems? The HKIA e-channel is horrible now. In the past the system can read anybody's ID card (passport barcode) as soon as the reader is available, and after the person exits the channel the door will open right away for you to enter and put finger on finger-print reader. Today, I noticed that it gave me a new message, "Please wait till the person ahead clears." It won't read my passport barcode. Then after the person exits, the reader needs to wait a few seconds before it reads my passport code. Then the finger-print reader will take longer than before. I asked the immigration officer did they "upgrade" their software, and he said yes.
