A passenger can board the plane with two boarding passes in their name (for instance, persons of size, someone with an instrument, or if you want two coach seats to stretch out in), but I am pretty sure a)they have to be on the same reservation and b)the person's upgrade priority would be lower. I think you should board with your revenue ticket, throw away the return portion of your award ticket (since you don't get miles anyway), and give your gf the upgrade. But I may be a little bias
