16A is a couple of rows from the back of the aircraft. Engines are mounted on the sides very close to where you're sitting, so expect engine noise. I'd try for a seat further to the front if you notice a seat opening up before your flights, so keep checking for a different seat further up to become available. Failing that, bring your earplugs or noise cancelling headphones.

Hadn't really thought about checking for a better seat *after* ticketing, I've always figured that I couldn't change it. I'll pay more attention this time and maybe get lucky on that.
Would you say that the cabin noise is significantly higher than the MD80, where I'm usually in an exit row seat right over the engines?
