Japanese Tourist Visa "Guarantor in Japan"

I am an American; my wife is Filipina, with American permanent residence. We're planning to spend a couple of days in Tokyo next month on the way to the Philippines. I don't need a visa, but she does.

My question is in regards to the requirement that there be an "inviter" and/or "guarantor" in Japan. We're not using a tour company; we just want to go sightseeing, so I don't really know who the "guarantor" would be. If the question is "who's paying," I suppose I could put myself down, but I'm clearly not in Japan...

Does anyone have any suggestions for what to put in this space? I'm going to walk her application over to the consulate (Seattle) next week, and if necessary I'll ask them directly, but I thought someone out there might have been in this situation before.

Thanks in advance.
