Give me a break. You don't need to waste any time "pretending" to stay there. Hotel personnel could care LESS if you are actually in the room. I can think of a half dozen situations where someone checks in and doesn't actually spend the nights or days there.

I've done this a few times. One was for 3 nights. And no....you don't have to check out either.

I walk in, hand over credit card, turn around and leave and wait for stay to post. Going to your room for anything is just a waste of time and serves no purpose. No one cares whether you stay in your room or not.
