I might just do this if I am going to purchase this trip.

So I booked another DEN-NRT RT to compare, sure enough, upgrade is only 30k miles.

Now I have DEN-NRT RT and cancelled my original ORD-DEN-NRT RT. I am crossing my finger K fare ORD-DEN show up one of these days .

Price difference for booking a single NPR vs 2 separate NPRs were about $40.

Should I wait to call? Per MR rule? Just checking b4 pxxxOff everyone.
The difference in fare for me is $28. Almost not worth the hassle to book two PNRs.
