Free breakfast had not been offered in prior stays (before new benefit rolled out) - just 250 points (and free coffee in lobby).
My experience is the exact opposite at the 4P Bay Bridge.
I used to get free breakfast all the time, as an amenity offered by the hotel, in additional to the SPG amenity. Since the roll-out, they have quit offering free breakfast to PLAT members ... instead, you have the choice of breakfast, points, or [whatever] as the SPG benefit.
I have stayed there 4 times since roll-out.
