If I were going in warm weather- I would definately see Lincoln Park, including the zoo and spend some time on the lakefront- bike riding or spending time along the beach. Also- Oak Park is an an easy el ride (Green Lone) and has Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio. I'd skip Milwaukee and rent a car and go through Indiana to the Dunes or even up to Michigan (New Buffalo) and go to the beaches there.
