Equally problematic, you are assuming based on your award availability searches in limited markets and for limited time periods that AA suddenly worsened its overall policy about what AA considers to be one of its most valuable assets (per its annual report). Why would AA do that, especially given that AA does not believe that award redemption causes any decrease in revenue passengers, i.e., award passengers do not crowd out revenue passengers (per its annual report)?
The mere fact that you cannot find award availability today on the flights you want on the days you want does not warrant a broad-brushed claim about award availability in all markets on all flights throughout the award booking calendar.
I'm with Paulchili. Not only is there a scarcity of 2 premium seats on any given flight to Europe in advance, the same holds true for flights to Buenos Aries. I was starting to plan a vacation there for spring 2013 and put in over 90 different days starting with February 2013. There isn't a single flight with 2 saaver award seats in J or F at all. And I still check every day for the second J seat on a MAD-DFW flight on Nov. 7 for the return flights from my vacation. I also check a few days before and after that date as I could change it, but no luck.
It is for these reasons that AA will be losing my business, both as a paying customer and AA Citicard user, as soon as I use up my Aadvantage miles (if I even can). I'm moving over to UA for much much better premium award availability.
