I finally did a 3-way with the airline so that he could hear someone else confirm that the miles were definitely not in the account.

All in all....a very painful process for my wife's but fairly automatic for me. I still don't know what caused the difference.
My experience thus far has been terrible. Lots of finger pointing between TD and American. I am thinking about just closing out my TD Ameritrade account and writing this one off. Won't cost me any $$ in the end. Chasing points gets old.

One question - were you able to determine the source of the problem? Was in on the TD end or the AA end?

Thanks.
