We stayed at an ES in or near PHL a few years ago and it was our (then) pre-teen daughters birthday. I noted it in the reservation. When we arrived they had a card signed by the staff, helium balloons, a reusable water bottle filled with candy, and also slices of cake in the fridge for us. Very nice touch, and I made sure to compliment / thank them both in person and throug a comment link. I didn't expect them to do nearly so much.
