I'm also very hands-on with my travel plans and whatnot. However, my Ambassador lets me be hands-on with steroids.
Some people have identified a Plat concierge that they work with on a regular basis. The difference is that those Plat concierges don't have the same reach and levels of access throughout the organisation. Ambassadors can also go outside Starwood for things that Plat concierges are unlikely and probably not authorized to do.
