You have a lot of choices, 45K will get you to Mexico, Hawaii, the Caribbean and of course anywhere in North America.

If you use Air Canada the fuel surcharges will be huge, try to use the American Carriers which don't currently have Fuel Surcharges. You should be allowed at least 2 stops (I.E. Calgary + 1 other stop) any layovers (less than 24 hours) would not count as a stop.

For YYZ-YYC-HNL-YYZ YYC and HNL would be your stops.

You could connect via 'YVR-LAX' or SFO or ORD or DEN

So you could stop in Vancouver for 23.59 hours, then in LA, then in Chicago on the way back.

I don't think the Caribbean would be possible as you are doing too many East-West miles, going south would put you over the allowed MPM (Miles Permitted)

Another option would be for you to get a American Express with a nice Welcome Bonus that is free for the first year. (Within 2-3 weeks you could have an extra 15k or 25k (or BOTH) points which could open up Europe, Africa, Asia or Australia). You can see the link in my signature for a couple of free options.

What ever you decide, check 1 leg at a time, then when you have your flights, call Aeroplan and have them validate the booking.

Good Luck !
