This "free" breakfast benefit is creating more negative publicity than anything.
Rule of thumb:
international properties-choose breakfast
domestic properties (incl CA)-choose points
I think the blame (or shame) lies with the hotel rather than SPG since the hotel decides what to offer.
Though I do think SPG should enforce that the hotels at least offer continental breakfast by the hotel and not the 3rd party restaurant!
On a separate note, has anyone had experience with the breakfast offerings in French Polynesia? Specifically, Le Meridien Tahiti and St Regis Bora Bora?
