I am Lifetime Plat at Marriott, multi-year Hyatt Diamond, few year Hilton Diamond, and *wood something or other.

The bennies are different, but the problems are the same...especially for the type situation you are describing. I think Hyatt provides superior customer service, but they are usually pricier and have far fewer locations. Marriott has the greatest consistency IMO, but they don't count stays, only nights and it takes a LOT of them to hit the higher tiers. I don't care for *wood, and rarely stay there...but problems and resolutions seem no better /worse than elsewhere.

Although it won't hurt you to check out other programs, I would chalk this one up to late arrival/being tired grumpiness more than a long term Hilton issue. YMMV.
