I had to go to a meeting in Cyprus while working and living in Saudi Arabia. The 'quickest' routing was:

RUH - LHR - LCA !!!! This would have included flying over the top of Cyprus 1/3 of the way through the journey to LHR.

I ended up spending 7 hours in BEH between flights instead...
