To be honest, ridiculous LH routings depress me much less than several shorthall hops to some difficult to get to place in Europe. After all, a LH journey is going to be long either way, but a flight could (if anyone flew the route you wanted!) be a couple of hours or so, but ends up being a full day of travel. EDI-AMS-PRG-VNO and EDI-LHR-HEL-RVO are ones that I've done recently that were a massive pain (the latter because I missed all the connections and took three days...)
