Huh! Interesting. I'd never bought the award accelerator miles so I never knew there was an EQM/PQM option. Looks tempting, but let me check the math...
Looks like the prices are 0.03 cpm for the RDM and 0.10 cpm for PQM, making the total cost 0.13 cents per RDM+EQM. So for a 2000-mile flight I could buy 4000 RDM + 4000 PQM for $520.
However, I have the PresPlus card which gives me 1 RDM per $ and 1000 PQM per $5000. So I could pay my taxes putting $20K on my card with a 1.95% fee, which costs $390, gets me the same 4000 PQM, but 20000 RDM.
Only problem with that approach is I guess I have to plan further ahead than I would for the award accelerator route. Good to know it's available as a last minute option, though.
