I've had connections get LONGER and get that message. Generally happens when I book something exactly at the MCT that then winds up within five minutes of the MCT. As long as it's within the MCT, they generally won't change it. I'd only push it if it was a major shortening and you could claim some sort of injury or impairment that makes you uncomfortable with something too close to the MCT.
I only tried calling and changing once a few months ago when it first happened to give a little more time in CDG. Been through there a bunch so not overly concerned. We are heading for a cruise but there are three more later CDG-VCE flights that same day in case luggage doesn't make the connection and we are in VCE for 3 days before the ship leaves.
