Were I setting up home in BKK I might make some effort to find a value laundry. And as a visitor staying at the JWM I'd be happy to escape maniac hotel laundry prices: but I think lugging laundry up and down Sukhumvit blocks wouldn't be worth the couple of bucks saving on the convenience of the service offered by a closer laundry. But each to his/her own!
